Here I stand

believing a mirrored face

that tells me

it will be safe one day

to open the iron mask

of my heart.

She has returned to my thoughts

my dreams, she plagues

and like a fool, I give chase

To the smile

that breaks

hearts and bends knees

to become penitent.

From a restless sleep

I give thanks to the dawn

and for a new day

I can mock

while all around

good fortune is hunting

and I am found.
